George Soros Struggles To Build A Better Society

George Soros is seen by many as a champion for the rights of the weak, and success in his life has not come without hard work and persistence. The challenges that typically face him in his line of work may seem to be insurmountable, but George Soros has mastered the techniques that enable him to rise above the expectations of many critiques. George Soros has had a terrible past, and this was due to the conflict that was taking place in his country. George Soros and his family had to design methods of surviving so that they could be able to evade the traps that had been laid by the Nazis, who had the objective of getting hold of the Jews. Fate led George Soros to London, and this is what enabled him to escape the Nazis entirely. While in London, he studied business, and then he later moved to the United States of America and started taking advantage of the numerous opportunities that existed after the end of World War 2.

Up to this point, it is the experience that he gained that has continually reminded George Soros the importance of helping those whose rights have been neglected. The minority who are in power tend to make things go their way without the consideration of what the majority in the community might be going through, and this is what George Soros is trying to bring to an end.The Open Society Foundations has been key in enabling George Soros to overcome oppressive regimes, and he has invested about $18 billion into the institutions. Going against the wishes of a government can be a tricky undertaking, but George Soros continues to pump in more finances into his organizations to achieve his quest. George Soros established the Open Society Foundations at a time when countries were trying to rebuild themselves from the destruction that emanated from the second war of the world. People were trying to come to terms with the loss of loved ones, and as a result, this subjected the minority groups in the United States Natives to a lot of discrimination.

Black Americans were part of the people who faced much rejection, and living through each day was somehow a difficult undertaking. The Open Society Foundations was registered in 1990, and it started the quest for cohesion immediately. The agency has also brought many other philanthropic institutions together to create a united front. George Soros comes from a community that was being hunted with the objective of eliminating it entirely, and therefore, he understood the pain of rejection that the Black Americans were going through due to the resentment of United States Natives. The Open Society foundations has a vast network that enables the philanthropist to get in touch with communities that are being oppressed all over the world. At the moment, the Open Society Foundations is operating in over 150 countries, and the mission of the institution is based on the views that were brought forward by Karl Popper who was an apt economist. According to the lad, the society should be built on openness to peoples expression, cultural activities, and religious believes.

Why the Name Dick DeVos Rings a Bell

When I came across and article about philanthropist Dick DeVos, the name was very familiar to me. I was not surprised to hear that Dick’s father was Richard DeVos, the founder of Amway Corporation. The name has been matched to success in all areas of life and in business. Whether the individual is giving or whether they are successful in general, Dick DeVos has made the grade.

It’s always nice to hear that the richest of the rich are some of the most giving people in the world, and Dick DeVos is no exception. DeVos not only is the 67th richest person in the world, but he has a net worth of more than $57 million. I can see that when prestigious organizations make mention of your name, clearly you have done something worth notoriety. I’m especially glad that a light shines on not only the business acumen of DeVos but his charitable spirit as well.

DeVos is known for his Dick and Betsy DeVos Foundation, which has been highly regarded for its contributions to the education, arts, and religious community. They have also given to organizations like Kids Hope USA, and they provide funding for the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital as well. There are numerous organizations, schools, and community projects that DeVos is a part of, but they are all too numerous to list here. Researching them one by one has given me some clear insight into the type of person that Dick DeVos is, and it’s no surprise that God has blessed him as well as all of his endeavors tremendously. Dick DeVos Entrepreneurial and Leadership Journey

Richard Marvin DeVos, Jr, also called Dick DeVos, is a Michigan-born entrepreneur who is currently the CEO of the Windquest Group, an investment firm that specializes in manufacturing, non-profit, technology, and clean-tech solutions. Sustainability is one of the core visions of the Windquest Group under the leadership of DeVos. He is working to help the company invest in environmentally sound and economically sustainable technologies. Dick DeVos has been the President of the Windquest Group since 2002 and was the CEO of Amway before that.

Amway

1974 is when Dick DeVos started in Amway Corporation a company co-founded by his father, Richard DeVos Sr. He has held various positions at Amway in several departments including finance, marketing, research and development, sales, and manufacturing. Dick DeVos then rose to Vice President of Amway in 1984, a position that saw him lead the company to new markets, and drove international sales of the company to three times higher than the domestic ones, a first in history for Amway. In 1993, DeVos returned to Amway as its president, a position he held until 2002. His responsibility was to oversee the operations of the company in over 50 countries across six continents. While he was Amway’s president, he took the company on a corporate restructuring mission that resulted in a new parent company called Alticor. This process took 20 months, and also led to the formation of other subsidiary companies. DeVos saw the restructuring as necessary to return the company to profitability and prevent it from downsizing more than it already had; a feat he achieved with his brother Doug DeVos. In the fiscal year that DeVos retired as president, he saw the company rack in $4.5 billion in sales.

Other Achievements

In 1991, the DeVos family bought the NBA’s Orlando Magic, and Dick DeVos became its president until 1993. When he started out, some critics expressed doubts that he couldn’t manage an NBA franchise, but DeVos proved he could by using his business acumen to run the team. He went through the Forest Hills Public school system and then graduated from Northwood University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. DeVos attended Harvard business School but did not graduate, and he also went through the Executive Study Program at Wharton School. He has honorary doctorates from Northwood, Central Michigan University, and Grove City College. In 2006, DeVos ran for Governor of Michigan on a Republican ticket but lost. He got elected to the Michigan State Board of Education in 1990 but only served two years then left to run Amway.
